SelaciaTiming Your Communications

Being in relationship with others is both an opportunity and a challenge. Relationships teach you about love and therefore present ongoing opportunities to be more loving. Relationships challenge you too, serving as a catalyst for your spiritual growth.

A big factor in successful relationships is timing and the timing of your communications. Knowing the best time to say something is crucial. Imagine that you are angry with a loved one. Without thinking things through, you tell him or her how you feel, perhaps pointing out a habit that irritates you. While it may feel good to express your anger and have it out in the open, you may be disappointed with the outcome.

If you communicate something at the wrong time or before the other person can really hear your words, what you say will have a muted impact. It must be the right time for both you and the other person. You need to be ready for the communications or they may not be successful.

Therefore don't say something you aren't ready to say. Don't say something to another person when you sense that he or she will be unable to be present and interact fully.
